Walking For Dreams

Since the birth of Cole and Gavin we have made a commitment to raise awareness and money to help end premature births. As the boys have gotten older and their needs have changed, our focus has shifted also. As most of you know Cole suffered a brain bleed at birth, which resulted in a diagnosis of dystonic quadriplegia cerebral palsy. In a search to make Cole's life as independent as possible we were blessed to find The Jackson Center for Conductive Education. Cole has been enrolled there since June 2010.

Conductive education is a program that helps children and adults with motor disorders develop motor skills through repetition, peer interaction and positive reinforcement. The goal of conductive education is to help each participant achieve the highest quality of independent life. The Jackson Center is the only conductive education program in Indiana. To learn more about the Jackson Center visit http://www.thejacksoncenter.org/.

As a parent of a child enrolled at the Jackson Center for Conductive Education, we are asking for your help to raise money through Walking for Dreams. This is an annual family and pet walk that benefits both the Jackson Center and our family. The money raised by our team will split on a percentage basis with a portion being credited directly toward Cole's tuition and the remainder being used to help defray Jackson Center operating expenses. Our family has decided to donate Cole's portion back to the Jackson Center to add to their scholarship fund.

We are interested in doing everything we can to ensure that conductive education is available in central Indiana and have set a goal to raise $2000 for Cole and the Jackson Center through Walking for Dreams. If you are willing to help, you can make a donation online by visiting http://www.walkingfordreams.org/. Clink on Make a Donation and select Cole Johnson as your individual walker. You may also mail a check directly to us and we will be happy to turn it in. Checks can be made out to Jackson Center-Walking for Dreams.

Your gift, no matter the amount, will bring us one step closer to reaching our goal. More than that, it will give Cole and all of the students of the Jackson Center a greater chance at independence.

Thanks for your help! If you would like to walk with us, please join us on the White River Canal in downtown Indianapolis on Sunday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m.

With heart felt love and gratitude,

Julie, Eric, Cole and Gavin
